Synopsis (Goodreads): When she swore off love, he was the last man she imagined would steal her heart. If driving a piece-of-crap tow truck through the seediest part of town with a Smith & Wesson beside her means putting a roof over her son’s head, then Samantha Jones is going to be the best damn repo woman on the books. The streetwalkers, the drug pushers, the bands of looking-for-trouble punks haunting the mean streets at midnight don’t intimidate her. These are her people. The guy she finds bound and bloodied in the trunk of her latest conquest, a flashy new BMW, is a different breed entirely.

Daniel Panterro was certain he was going to die. Instead, by a stroke of luck, he was beaten to within an inch of his life and left for dead. But if he’s having a bad day, Sam’s day is about to get way worse. Danny knows he hasn’t seen the last of the vicious drug runners who kidnapped him from protective custody. His only recourse is to take his pretty savior hostage and force her to help him. There’s no going back for Sam and her four-yearold son, Tyler. They’re in way too deep.

With ruthless killers stalking their trail, Sam’s only choice is to trust this handsome, menacing stranger. But as she relinquishes control, Sam feels an unmistakable desire. Could she be tempted by Danny, who seems intent on protecting her and Tyler from even his own darkest secrets? And what is the price of falling in love with a man who operates on the edge of danger—her heart, her life . . . or both?

Personal Thoughts:  What first attracted me to this book aside from the author (this is an auto-read author for me :)), was the beautiful cover. The way that they covered half her face, the snow in the background and the mystery surrounding it really caught my eye.

Wow can Sam kick butt or what?! I loved how the author made the female protagonist have  a mind of her own, especially when the tough got going instead of being a weak minded female who didn’t know anything. For a 23 year old, she is one tough cookie, but through life’s hard lessons she’s learned to manage and raise her child, even in the bad part of town. I liked how the author showcased the difficulties that a single mother goes through in certain circumstances. It made it more realistic.

This book was full of action and from page one I was hooked. One of the great things about this book was the twist and turns that kept happening. I would expect one thing and then something else entirely would happen and that kept me going. 🙂 Danny and Sam had good back stories and their characters were well developed. Little Tyler was just adorable and so brave throughout their order but he pulled through. He’s no ordinary 4 year old. 🙂  I think that some of the secondary characters could have been developed a bit more than they were just to make it more balanced, rather than focused only on Danny, Tyler and Sam, but it didn’t take too much away from the story line.

I haven’t picked up a Karen Robards book in probably a year or more, but this just reminds me what I’ve been missing out on. Great romance, suspense and lots of action!

Top Ten Tuesdays: Top 10 Series I Need To Start But Haven’t Yet

toptentuesdayIt’s Top 10 Tuesday  which is hosted at The Broke and the Bookish and the topic is:

Top 10 Series I Need to Start But Haven’t Yet

The Hunger Games Series by Suzanne Collins

I wanted to read this series for the longest time. It had a lot of hype around it when it first came out and I decided to wait until the hype died down a bit. I saw the movie when it came out and it made me want to read the books even more.

The Chemical Garden Trilogy by Lauren DeStefano

I read Wither and I loved it. I waited for Fever to come out and when I picked it up, I wasn’t impressed. I’ve heard mixed reviews about the last one and I will be getting to it soon, but I my TBR list is ridiculously long so it might take a while.

The Iron Fey Series by Julie Kagawa

I’ve read Iron King and Iron Queen and thoroughly enjoyed them. It is just taking a bit of time in between to actually get to the next one. I think my problem might be that I read too many series books and I don’t want to read one series and ignore the other. 🙂          The Matched Series by Ally Condie

I haven’t been able to pick up any books in this series but really want to get my hands on it. It sounds so good. 🙂

   Divergent Series by Veronica Roth

Another great series that I am missing out on. I think there are too many awesome series coming out within a short span of each other, therefore, there is not enough time to read one before diving into another. Haha. The plot lines sound awesome, the characters kick ass and some of the covers blow you away.

The Mara Dyer Series by Michelle Hodkin

I know, I know, this one has been out for a while. I’ll be getting to it one day.

The Wolves of Mercy Falls by Maggie Stiefvater

This is another series that has been getting a lot of attention and reviews. There’s wolves and other things involved as well. 🙂

  Delirium Series by Lauren Oliver.
This one I have heard a lot about and it sounds so interesting. Another one that has been sitting on my TBR pile.

Castor Chronicles Series by Kami Garcia.

The movie already came out, yet I don’t want to go see it before I read the series. The trailer looked awesome and there have been rave reviews for this series.

  Eve Series by Anna Carey

This series sounds like it will be packed full of adventure, action and romance. The covers look fantastic as well. This makes me wonder why I haven’t picked it up yet.

When I stop adding books to my TBR thanks to Goodreads great features, that is when I will be able to finally catch up on all my favorite and anticipated reads. Unfortunately, there are so many good books out there that are coming out each month or even several within one month, that I think I’ll always have a massive list. :-p
